Michael Blosil, Marie Osmond Son, Found Dead
Michael Blosil, the 18 year old son of Marie Osmond , has been found dead at the foot of a building in Los Angeles.
Michael was one of five children adopted by Marie and her ex-husband Brian Blosil a well-known music producer. The body of Michael was found on the ground beneath a balcony of an LA apartment building. The death is being treated by the L.A. Authorities as a suicide.
Marie’s famous brother, Donny Osmond, said on Saturday “Please pray for my sister and her family.”
The teenager had been suspected of attempting suicide in 2006 but it was explained that it was caused by a reaction to medication. Michael was admitted to a rehab clinic in 2007 suffering from severe depression.
Marie said of her son on The Larry King Show in 2007, when she revealed his depression:
“My son Michael is an amazing young man, shown through his courage in facing his issues. As his mother, I couldn’t be more proud of him. The press and public has always been kind and gracious in the past and I know they will continue to respect our privacy during this time.”
Marie Osmond shot to fame in the 1970s on the back of the enormous success of The Osmonds, a family pop group made up of five of her brothers. The Osmonds were a pop phenomenon in the early 70′s with some people likening the hysteria surrounding their public appearances to that of The Beatles a decade before.
As The Osmonds’ popularity started to wain as a group (older brothers were getting married and did not want touring commitments) the younger individuals, Donny, Jimmy and Marie started to develop flourishing solo careers. In fact the careers of Donny and Marie as a brother and sister duetting couple actually started to eclipse the success of The Osmonds during the height of their popularity.
Just a few years ago, days prior to the family celebtrating 50 years in the entertainment industry, they lost their father and guiding light, George Osmond. Now, with the death of the son of Marie Osmond, the family face a new tragedy.
