Staying Positive During Flu Season

Let’s try and think of some ways to protect ourselves from the flu and swine flu and to preserve the happier winter thoughts.

The best way to protect yourself from the H1N1 virus is by staying away from H1N1 infected people. Ideally that means staying away from hospitals, away from large crowds, away from public transportation, and away from schools and other places where large groups of people with germs gather.

Of course, a life of isolation is not really an option (nor do I recommend it!), so while you should be careful to steer clear of people with the flu, you shouldn’t make yourself crazy about it. There are other things you can do to protect yourself that won’t shut you out from society.

Follow these simple tips to stay happy and healthy this flu-season:

1. When in large groups or using public transportation, try and keep hands (which should be washed often) to yourself. Greet with a wave rather than a handshake or a kiss.
2. Keep your hands away from your face.
3. If you suspect that you may be showing flu or swine flu symptoms, immediately begin to take Tamiflu (available in advance if you buy it from an online pharmacy).
4. Stay indoors and get better if you do happen to get sick, even if it’s just a cold. If your immune system is down and the H1N1 virus strikes, you’ll have an even harder time fighting it.
5. Stay positive!
